Pink Leather Gillet and Buckle Shoes

Karolina Kurkova Elle France December 11

The title of this post says it all, really. I love this leather gillet – not often you see one in blush pink, and it’s rare that such a colour can look so cool, tough and modern. These Balenciaga buckle boots are also totally awesome. Brown and black is a difficult combination to get right but these boots are a testament to how good they can be together when done right.

This editorial is so beautiful I had to share. I love the eerie intensity of the light flares and blurs, and the ethereal, almost ghostly quality of the photographs. And even though you can’t see it in detail, I want the dress in the first picture from the dark sexiness of the picture and the gorgeous curve of her hip against the silhouette of the hand. Stunning.

It was so difficult waiting to share these photos with you! A few weeks ago me and Callum headed down to Hoxton to the lovely Jonny Storey’s studio for a beauty shoot with Stylist magazine. If you live in London you’ll no doubt have seen issues being handed out at tube station entrances/exits, though often by the time I’ve got there they’ve run out of copies. No wonder as the magazine is completely awesome, and amazingly – completely free!

Anyway, for their 100th issue, they had readers create the entire magazine, and I got chosen as one of four girls to test out some smart new beauty products and have a photoshoot to show the results. I had an amazing day – all the stylists and Stylist staff were great, and it was lovely to spend time with the other  girls. There was also A LOT of food, so that kept me and Callum happy!

I’m so glad I can share the pictures from the day now because not only was it an incredible experience, but also I really think some of these pictures are Callum’s best ones yet. In fact, I’m thinking of changing WordPress theme to have bigger pictures, as this small size at the moment doesn’t do his photographs justice … what do you think?

To read the feature either pick up a copy of the magazine if you’re in London or have a look at the online version here. I think the reader issue was a really cool initiative. After all, readers know what they want to see in a magazine, and it also gave many of us a chance to experience the workings of Stylist. Although there was a bit of an awkward moment today on the tube where someone sitting opposite with a Stylist open in their hands was staring suspiciously at me …

Glacial Photoshoot for Glacial Weather

Glacial Shoot by Sandro BablerGlacial Shoot by Sandro BablerGlacial Shoot by Sandro BablerGlacial Shoot by Sandro Babler

It’s like the middle of the Arctic Ocean here at the moment! Earlier this week I was wearing shorts, and then the last few days I’ve been wrapping my poor, trembling body up in faux fur, hoodies and leather. It’s seriously glacial here.

… Well, ok, that might be a bit of an exaggeration but I swear it feels like it sometimes! So as the icy days come rolling in, here’s a beautiful  Sandro Bäbler shoot shot at a Switzerland ice stream to match the weather.

This glacial beauty of a shoot gives off a sense of strength with a hidden vulnerability. I love fashion shoots which are evocative and emotive, even if the clothes aren’t always the main focus. It makes me feel something, gives me an indication of how a brand’s clothes will empower or change me.
