I Want it Wednesday – Mixed Up Prints

Topshop Printed Tops

Mixed Prints Outfits

1: Topshop Aztec Latino Suntop

2: Topshop Animal Border Vest

3: Topshop Bright Animal Cami

Outfits: see here for details of each item

Loving the whole Aztec/Navajo themes going on for SS12, especially the creative prints that we’re seeing as a result. It’s a bit brash, and a bit of an eye-ache, but it’s cool and fun and young. Mixing up prints is going to be big, so don’t be afraid, just play around with your prints and see what works for you. I’ve picked three great printed tees from Topshop to get started with (cause as usual they’re bang on trend and affordable)  and then made a print-crazy outfit with each – give it a go!

I Want it Wednesday – Silver Dresses

Silver foil batwing dress

Silver cut sleeve dress

Most people want sequins and silver for parties, but to be honest I love the idea of silver dresses in the daytime. With an oversized jumper or man-cardi they’re the epitome of casual, easy sexiness with a boyish vibe (a la Rumi of Fashiontoast – who else?). It’s the kind of thing that works for places like New York though, I’m not sure the streets of London would appreciate my subverted eveningwear and people might mistake me for a hooker. BUT it’s still a cool look and I wanna rock it out sometime in the warmer months.

These three dresses are from Nasty Gal. Not sure where to find other silver dresses – let me know if you know a good place. I really need to stop featuring Nasty Gal or people are gonna think they pay me (they don’t), but their styling is just too good.

Pink Leather Gillet and Buckle Shoes

The title of this post says it all, really. I love this leather gillet – not often you see one in blush pink, and it’s rare that such a colour can look so cool, tough and modern. These Balenciaga buckle boots are also totally awesome. Brown and black is a difficult combination to get right but these boots are a testament to how good they can be together when done right.

I Want it Wednesday – Reiss Women’s Jillie Navy Faux Fur Jacket

Reiss Women's Jillie Navy Faux Fur Jacket

source: Reiss

Just the one item this week, as it’s a knockout. I’ve been searching for a blue faux fur jacket or coat ever since seeing one in the Topshop AW11 party collection. I love the ombre striped effect on this Reiss jacket, which is pretty standard but seems elevated with the coloured faux fur, almost neon. I think the blue would look amazing against black leather trousers and a low-neck white tank top. Not really sure how I’d feel about pairing it with more colourful offerings though. Even though colour blocking is pretty trendy right now, I think it might be a bit too much.

Ps. Sorry for the late post, I was just so busy yesterday and forgot!

Outfit – Triple Denim

Double denim is so passe, peeps! Triple denim’s the way forward now. Well, maybe. I just wanted to try it out and see how it looked, since I’m a huge fan of double denim. I’m actually pretty pleased with the result. It’s so soft and casual looking, but with a cool, easygoing style. I’ve been experimenting with new ways to wear scarves as winter is well and truly here, and I like the cowboy feel this draped style adds. Also, how awesome are these Topshop gold heel Adorn boots? Haven’t found an outfit they haven’t gone with yet …

So you all know my obsession with Rumi Neely from Fashiontoast. Well Jenny looks similar to her, has similar photos, and has a similar style … so I was bound to love her! But she’s very much her own girl too and I think she’s got such an awesome style, I had to share her with you all.

I Want it Wednesday – Nasty Gal Oversized Jumpers

Nothing is more sexy than a girl in an oversized jumper, her hair thrown carelessly around her face and perhaps a hint of shoulder and cleavage showing. Nasty Gal is the bomb for this look. I love their styling, it’s the best for an online retailer I’ve seen, and I gotta try those gorgeous berry lips.

Outfit: Last of the Summer

Wow do I miss summer. Actually, this year I also missed summer, because the only sustained good weather I experienced was during my finals, which was for the majority spent at a desk in a room with the curtains drawn. So I made the most of the good weather a few weeks back to wear all those gorgeous summer clothes that spent far too long in the cupboard this year.

I love mixing prints. It can be tricky but just play around with it until it works for you. These two prints go so well together, it’s like a summers day and night in one! These Jones boots are one of my favourite buys ever. I wear them in winter with jeans and knit tights, and then again in summer with denim shorts and flimsy dresses. They’ve also got the perfect heel hight – I am only slightly taller than Callum with these on 😉

I Want it Wednesday – River Island Shoes

River Island Glitter WedgesRiver Island Ankle Boots River Island Cuff Sandalssource: http://www.riverisland.com/

I’m really liking River Island’s shoe offerings at the moment. They are timelss shapes and styles that will work across seasons. I’d wear these gorgeous glitter peep toe wedges with a little dress and no accessories – I’d want all the attention on the shoes.

As for the ankle boots, well,  a girl can never have too many ankle boots. Effortlessly cool and great with most outfits, they are one of my favourite shoe styles. These beauties are too gorgeous. I love the deep, green-blue colour and woven detailing. They come in brown and black too but those colours seem too flat and boring compared to these ones.

And last but not least, the black ankle cuff sandals. Elegant in shape and colour, but with a little bit of cool thrown in with the cuff. These would look awesome with a leather minidress.
